The ultimate Australian party treat: chocolate crackles. Man, these bring back some childhood memories! Normally made with Rice Bubbles, icing sugar, coconut, cocoa, copher (vegetable fat shortening) and 100’s % 1000’s. I don’t know if anyone outside Australia understood any of that, and apologies if you didn’t. All you really need to know is that they were chocolatey, crackley and delicious. And now I’ve made low FODMAP chocolate crackles so we can all enjoy them once again, and be a little healthier in doing so. As long as you don’t eat the whole batch!
These would be perfect for kid’s parties, as I’m sure was their original intention, but also to keep in the freezer for when you’re feeling like you need a pick me up.
- 2 cups puffed rice
- 1 cup puffed millet
- 2/3 cup desiccated coconut
- 2/3 cup cacao
- 2 tbsp peanut butter (optional)
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 2/3 cup rice malt syrup
Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl and press into a lined or greased muffin tin.
Freeze or refrigerate until solid.
