Vanilla Protein Balls

Protein balls have never been a huge thing of mine. Food in ball form is fine, don’t get me wrong (and see my cookie dough ball recipe for reference), but unless I’ve bought it from an actual shop it will never have protein powder in it. When I’ve made them at home previously, my source of protein has always been in the form of peanut butter.

So the other day I went to The Source Bulkfoods (a health food store chain in Australia that sells health food in bulk) and walked past the Pea Protein, and thought, let’s go for it. And low and behold, I have finally made protein balls with actual protein powder in them! These vanilla protein balls are delicious, sweet and a perfect afternoon pick-me-up.

Super simple to whip up on a Sunday when meal prepping, perfect to keep in the fridge or in your work bag and pop in your mouth when you need a nibble.

Vanilla Protein Balls

Servings 6 protein balls


  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp almond butter or sub for another nut or seed butter
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1/3 cup vanilla pea protein
  • 1/3 cup gluten free oats
  • 1/3 cup almond meal
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 tsp vanilla essence


  1. Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl.

  2. Divide the mixture into 6 portions and roll into bowls and place in a container lined with baking paper.

  3. Store the protein balls in the fridge.
